Why do people keep trying to convince themselves there were black Vikings? Black people have amazing warrior cultures all their own, so why this? No, there were no native black Norsemen. If you mean raiders in general I mean there were Irish, English, Frisian, Scottish and Welsh Vikings. Could there have been people of color fighting alongside Norsemen? Absolutely, but they didn't end up there by choice. That's the thing, they were sl@vers, and they didn't discriminate. They'd take anyone, including other Norse peoples.

No there are no trustable sources lol.
A lot of people get the “brown eyed, dark haired, black Viking” idea from this slightly problematic study (well the study itself was not problematic, it’s actually helped us understand the Viking age in great detail. It’s how people were able to interpret it that was problematic) in which multiple Viking remains were genetically tested and the the study revealed that Vikings were dark haired, dark eyed, and short. At least, that’s how people interpreted it.
In all actuality, the study didn’t reveal this. As a matter of fact, it reinstated that the Vikings were tall, light haired, and light eyed individuals, predominantly of Scandinavian descent.
The problem came in because of half of the hundreds of individuals in the study were not from Scandinavia and only potentially culturally Norse. Those in the study who were confirmed to be Norse by culture and from Scandinavia and even those outside of Scandinavia who were confirmed culturally Norse all came back w some degree of Scandinavian origin.
Hope this helps clear things up ❤

Man I don’t know what cool aid black people have been drinking, but Vikings were not black, neither were Greeks black, nor Romans, in anybody except Africans, and that is the very one you guys don’t talk about, they have incredible people in history, but you guys don’t talk about them. Queen Sheba is one, lover of Solomon, I have never seen a good movie where she’s been portrayed, not one. But I have seen movies or shows where “Black Vikings” are seen. I turned it off because is historically inaccurate, this is history, not fiction, I’mma fiction writer, I write historical facts as well, but when it comes to history is important that it should be accurate, it is not meant to put anything you want in there, it is based on facts and not anybody’s interpretations. Btw hebrews did not come from Africa either, according to the bible they come from Mesopotamia. They come from Abraham, and Abraham was from Mesopotamia, they come from Jacob, and Jacob comes from Abraham, according to the bible. It is said that Solomon did went to Africa, apparently he was in love with an African woman, and probably thats why many Hebrews went with him and decided to stay in Africa, is a possibility, but Hebrews are not African, there are African jews, but they did not came from Africa is what I mean. Just like Greeks, and Romans and Scandinavians were not black, as much as black Americans want to say they are. Ya’ll have an amazing history, but that is the story ya’ll don’t talk about, your own.
