Absolutely, THE bestest Coach out there. Wish I could afford an hour on court with him. 😂😂

What are your thoughts on racquet-smashing?

Love this mindset. I do the same in matches. It deflects the stress off yourself, gives your opponent credit, creates closure to the point loss, and allows me to forget and move on to focusing on the next point! Bravo

This strategy of saying good job to the other guy as a way to avoid frustration is a good one if you’re opponents are world class. Try this positive mental attitude against a 4.0 pusher that’s twice your age. NOT as easy to deceive yourself

My coach had the similar thing but his was next point next point next point. For myself I knew couldn’t stay on one thing so I moved on and showed no emotion. It’s how I got over missing shots that I should I should have made

So what do YOU think about top pro players breaking racquets, Patrick???
We expected this video to give us the answer !!!
I personally find it pityful and ridiculous. Top players should set the right example for children and juniors attempting to reach a pro career.
They can break their racquet in the locker room if they want, that’s their business, but not in front of the crowd and cameras. There should be a serious penalty for willingly damaging your racquet, with no other purpose. Not to mention if it endangers someone else, which should imply a more serious penalty.
No complacency with violence and bad behavior on court. Period.
You can call yourself an idiot all you want, but whatever shot failed was anything but the racquet’s fault.

I just concentrate on why I missed and try to correct it instead of getting mad.

Not bad idea but it can turn you submissive to your opponent

Just forgive yourself, making lots of unforced errors may happen and try to get it right next time
