Talk therapy has done me a great deal of harm. Its unfortunate this isnt known by more therapists.

I really love this. This is quite true. Psychiatrists always wanted me to talk about it, but it sent me in a downward spiral for weeks. They kept saying I cant get better if I miss appointments. Well, I can't feel better if I'm dead from the trauma of speaking about the trauma.

Talk therapy both was hard and helped me at the same time, talk therapy helped me with starting to understand what happened, I haven’t been to therapy in a long time but I’m definitely going back

I have had to do this with the VA multiple times because between 2018 and 2022. I had about 4 - 5 different doctors because they kept leaving. I finally gave up therapy… 🤦‍♂

Damn girl I need you in my life lol I've always been told to talk about my trauma to get it out and yeah I've never been able to really get over that hump. I tried taking to my counselor a few years ago and I told her about a very abuse relationship I was in and how it still affects me to this day and she asked me "are you in any kind of danger right now" I told her "no" and she told me it doesn't really matter since I'm not in the danger anymore. I gave up on talking to counselors after that.

Our shame can often trigger their shame... Brene' Brown book The Power of Vulnerability is all about it. It's more like a conversation than a lecture and that helps me learn so much easier.

I heard it is possible to talk about your traumas and heal from them in talk therapy but you need a safe enviroment to go to. Just a place where you feel safe outside your therapist office.

So how do we do it then?

That's not how it works. Ya it's a band aid to show up how you want but nothing will fix it till you analyze your feelings about it and are heard and validated and start fighting for yourself. Everything else is just temporary.
