It was actually made by one Sergeant Mel Grevich and PFC John Lyttle. One could also argue that the idea was invented by PVT Bill Colby. Stein just made it famous because of his MOH, which he most definitely deserved. After the war, the US government most likely destroyed all six that Grevich and Lyttle made. Unfortunate, because it was a helluva weapon.

1200 rounds per minute? It looks like a slowed down standard MG-42 (they fired an average of 1500 rounds per minute but the Germans slowed them down,. And some of them could fire 1800 rounds per minute). With only one barrel.

It wasn't a regular 30 cal, it was a stinger like you said, but, it was already called the stinger which was mounted in aircraft, that's why it had such a high rate of fire cause it's alot colder at 15 thousand feet, all he did was take it out of the aircraft and then lightened and added the stock n can
