There's something about magnets and electromagnetism that most every electronics experimenter finds fascinating, and I'm no exception. After learning the principles of induction and electromagnetism, I found myself building a variety of homemade motors and generators, believing t I might discover some new design principle that would revolutionize the world. It never worked out that way, but the education I got through my experimenting was priceless..

Induction is such a fun... and mildly spooky thing. As a blacksmith one of my favourite "toys" was an induction heater I built from scrap left out on garbage day. It made spot heating bar-stock for making wrought iron gates sooooooooo damn easy.

Years ago we took the old Florescent fixtures out of a small garage and put in led lights, when we turned on the switch they lit, but were only 1/2 brightness. After tracing the wires we found we hadnā€™t hooked them up. Just had the new feed wire running beside the old one for a couple feet

i think if you try a few turns of wire arround a bolt or iron pipe, and tap the wire to a 9V battery (not permanently connected, but sparking the battery), that it propably also detects on the scope.

As a plumber I see a lot of pin holes in copper pipes that are close to power cables. Thoughts????

when smaller secondary coils light loads, does it make bigger primary coil draw more current from source?

Wish I could experiment with an acre of land and an aluminum coil that hit the 4 sides of the property with miles and miles of cablešŸ˜®

I think it's worth noting that you can see the coil causing the video to look like it's "vibrating" when you turn it on

After watching some of your videos I'm wondering, why isnt your camera or phone reacting to your tests? I remember some years ago i pointed a cheap laser at my phone camera (iphone 4s) and it permanently damaged the camera. Or do you notice those things reacting? Is it just not enough to make it quit working or be noticeable on video?
