When possible, when you put the thread through the loop, put it near the end of the thread instead of the base of the thread. It pulls throughmuch more easily then and doesn't distort the last stitch.

The way that I personally do this is I thread my needle through where Iโm trying to anchor or bury my thread to where the eye of the needle is just peeking out and then I threaded that little tail through the eye of that needle and then pull the needle through the rest of the way. Works like magic
