As an accomplished musician, I did see her “play” the cello in the Wednesday series. I was honestly pleasantly surprised. While it was very obvious she wasn’t actually playing, (full quartet at some points with only one instrument, as well as the usual culprit of fingers or hands not moving), she did do extremely well through expression. You could tell she knew what she was trying to replicate just without knowing how to actually play it. She knew the piece and the movement of it. The bow would move to the side it needed to, her body moved to the correct tempo, and biggest of all, she looked like she felt it in the ways a true musician would. Maybe the best attempt I’ve seen.

People criticize anything she says. At this point, if you don’t like her then just leave her alone.

I agree with her. I apply it to my job, when I understood that people in higher ranks don't have to be more intelligent than me but more confident, it is much easier for me, gave me so much confidence

I've been applying this during job interviews. Works like a charm

as a cellist myself its really cool of her to learn a new instrument and fake it till you make it just for a role!

As an average white male, I wish I had the confidence of an average white male

Honestly the cellists I know would never leave mean comments or criticize a non-player for their skills

I once had a white boyfriend tell me not to apologize in emails or give excuses—just set up another time and move on. It’s taken some getting used to, with lots of backspacing ‘I’m sorry’s,’ but I’ve noticed I get much better responses and feel a general lightness when writing emails. Thanks, Tom!

After dealing with the consequences of overconfident men, I've realized just how little doubt they have in doing most things. I still have confidence issues, but I don't doubt myself as much. I know as long as I look confident, things will go okay.

As a cellist, while it was obvious that she wasn’t playing, she did a lot better than most actors do, and it’s amazing she put so much effort into it

I gave this exact advice today, worded differently. You just have to embrace the inner narcissist, and just believe that you know what you're doing and you're doing it better than anyone else ever could.

Me, a white guy just out of a meeting with mismatched socks:

The moment I started thinking like this, doctors started actually listening to me instead of ignoring my simple requests for 3 years. Instead of sheepishly asking I would say this is why I want this test, these issues have been ongoing so can I please have this arranged. And they would do it.

My best friend and I call it "putting on our male confidence".
And yes, it got me the job I wanted.

I was always told that the most confident actions yield not only the best results, but less questions. Even if you don't feel confident, you put that mask on, and lean into it, and that's the first step.
