My idea is: Chris knew that people would make teams and gang up on each other just for that money. He expected them to fight and all lose the suitcase. Some people had a big advantage, like Izzy and Eva just handed Justin the suitcase. But some people thrived on their determination for the money that they deemed ‘Rightfully Theirs’. They channelled all their anger towards getting their suitcase, they all wanted compensation for failing to win the 100k. Chris knew that none of them would be able to keep the suitcase, and by the time it reached him (If it ever did) it would already be ripped apart. I also have a theory that Chris planned a second season from the start, but wanted it to seem like he hadn’t planned for it, so he made a competition at the finale. My theory that goes hand in hand with this is that Chris did something to rig the game, making Owen the winner. My reasoning is that Gwen would have never given up the money for a 1/22 possibility for a million. Chris must have wanted someone gullible to win, so that they would happily give up their definite check of 100k for a slight chance of something bigger and better. I think this is the reason he got Leshawna voted off, because he knew Duncan wouldn’t make it to the finale, and neither would Owen. But he needed Owen for his plan to take place, as Owen was the only one who had a lack of IQ, and would never have thought his choice over. He made sure Leshawna was gone, and then, knowing Duncan would peak at Final 3, he did something to the finale race to make sure Owen took the number 1 spot. (I know this is long I do apologise 😅)
