Sooo true. I got chlamydia once 10 years ago when I was stupid and decided to be not safe for one timeā¦ well I felt something was wrong immediately after the deedā¦ next day went to my doc. Tested and bingooo. Lucky for me I got symptoms very quick because how many time you hear of people not having symptomsā¦
My doc was very confused that I asked to be tested with my mom next to me. Well we are very open about everything.

I think there is a healthy amount of shame needed to push someone to avoid bad behaviors. Stigmas arent always harmful they can be great motivators to avoid bad things. I personally dont believe you should have any more than one sexual partner (your spouse), but thats a side point. in the context of this video i get what mike is saying and i agree that even in error your health is important and you shouldnt let shame keep you from getting care. That being said, just as one extreme is harmful so is the other. Shame is a natural part of guilt and its there to remind us that we dont want to do certain things. Obviously there is such thing as unhealthy shame, but shame can, as ive said, be a healthy feeling that helps you know right from wrong and avoid those actions in the future. So i think it is incorrect to say you shouldnt feel shame just that you shouldnt let that shame keep you from getting the care you need

I agree with the message about getting tested and not feeling scared to seek medical help. There is no shame in getting it or any std/STI. That said, I don't agree there is still no shame if you're able to start counting the times you have caught something. You need to have some shame to learn you need to make a change. There is no shame in falling down the stairs, but if you always put butter on your wood stairs because you like the smell of popcorn, then your decision have some shameful opinions of it.
I worked with a guy who was proud and regularly talked about the times he has gotten gonorrhea.

You can feel shame about something and still get it treated though. Shame can kind of be aā¦deterrent, as it were, to behaviors that maybe we should avoid. So chlamydia itself might not be shameful but how you got it might be, so maybe thatās something to not repeat. I donāt see why thereās such a stigma about shame š¤·š»ā

My Grandpa comment on head lice: "There's no shame in getting lice. There's shame in keeping lice."
