Firstly the label “Organic” isn’t regulated the same way across the world.

Let’s look at the facts…
Conventional agriculture causes increased greenhouse gas emissions, soil erosion, water pollution... but it’s more affordable & does offer some nutrition and good fibers needed for our guts.

Organic farming does have a smaller carbon footprint yet isn’t chemical free, organic pesticides are also chemical. They’re more expensive but do offer better nutrition and retain more goodness. However often travelling from afar, nutrients are lost or foods are picked unripe to offer longer shelf life so the nutrition profile may not be as much as we’d hope.

Local offers the benefits of being better priced, better nutrition profile, better carbon footprint but some produce just offers lower chemical impact when bought ORGANIC!

Thoroughly washing your veggies & fruit reduces chemicals & the best way to do so is soaking in water with vinegar and/or baking soda.

CONCLUSION: My preference is to buy LOCAL produce where possible, organic where I’m going to eat the skin & non-organic where I will be discarding skin. So grapes 🍇 I prefer them organic!

Dairy, eggs, oats & white rice are better free range & organic.
