I worked on a jeep Cherokee that was a relatives last year with a transmission code. Ran great if driven easy but under load at higher rpm, it would start shuddering violently, somewhat similar to converter lockup shudder that I have felt in other transmissions like the GM 4L60E.
I did a drain and refill on the trans with mopar 8-9 speed fluid but when I went to drain it, the oem fluid was still light greenish looking almost new really making me second guess my initial diagnostic. On that very next test drive, I put the hammer down getting on the interstate up hill not letting off when it started vibrating. I Finally got an MIL code for engine miss. That’s when I almost instantly found 2 spark plugs loose. 😂 Sure glad I didn’t condemn a transmission for bloody loose spark plugs someone else just recently installed

Shit like this would stop happening if manufacturers would announce tsb’s instead of the customer coming to a shop for it to be addressed. They do this so you have to go to the dealer.

Yes my transmission stop shifting and it had fault codes it was a simple tcm relay. Diagnose and fix it myself.
