The fact that people are still trying to make Raleigh seem like a horrible person for ADOPTING a RESCUE is beyond WILD.

You gave him a home and they’re mad about it, it’s crazy, don’t let them get to you keep going ā¤ you did the right thing in giving Lalo a home!

Doesn't matter his pedigree. You rescued a horse that needed you and he went to the best person possible. That is ALL that matters. You rock.

All animals, no matter their history, deserve a loving home. Its awful how some people think that way.

What part of ADOPTED do people not understand?? I really wanted a specific type of cat and I adopted him instead of buying because shelter pets need homes. There’s nothing wrong with that and it’s actually better. The same applies to you. You wanted/love Arabian horses and you adopted one instead of buying one. You did a GOOD thing.

This might be the most baffling "controversy" I've seen in a long while. Some people are just obsessed weirdos.

Hi Raleigh,

I have access to the Arabian Horse Datasource, which is the encyclopedia for purebred arabians, half arabians, and anglo arabians. People are saying Lalo’s registered name is ā€œFocus Apolloā€. There is no horse under the purebred index or half/anglo index. His presumed sire, Focus Valentino, and his presumed dam, Focus Khatarina, are indeed on datasource. You can click on progeny for these two horses, neither of them have Focus Apollo. Khatarina has only one offspring listed, a grey stallion, and Valentino has one offspring listed, a chestnut mare.

If Lalo is ā€œFocus Apolloā€, he’s not even registered, which is actually BETTER in your scenario. A lot of people care about pedigrees when it comes to adopting an arabian, if a horse doesn’t have its papers, or is even simply not registered at all, the demand for that horse unfortunately declines. For Lalo, he doesn’t even have an official pedigree from Arabian Horse Association. Yes, it is still possible to get Lalo’s registered, but you will need to get in contact with the dam’s owner at time of breeding and owner at time of foaling, as well as the recorded owner of sire at time of breeding. Even with horses on Datasource, it is EXTREMELY difficult to get into contact with previous owners to transfer over registration. In the arabian community, many don’t consider an arabian truly owned by someone until it is transferred over on Datasource. Even worse, if you sell your arabian horse to someone else, and that horse ends up in a kill pen, etc., people will look up that horse on datasource, trace it back to you, and it’ll make you look bad.

Also, All Breed Pedigree is a nice site considering it costs money to access datasource, but it’s mostly user moderated and maintained. I could make up some horse and claim it as an offspring of Lalo if I wanted to. I’m not saying Lalo’s entry on that website isn’t genuine, just more so it’s better off checking with AHA on this.

If you want to go ahead and register him or see if he is registered somewhere under a different name, you will need to contact AHA and send in hair samples. It may be difficult to get him registered without all the information or try to transfer his ownership over in datasource. For me, I wouldn’t worry too much. Lalo is yours and is being loved, and that’s all that matters.

Also, wanted to add. I live in Colorado and go to arabian horse events in Colorado. Membership (as a whole across the country) is on a decline, and so is registration. Part of the blame has to do with the outside perspective of assuming all Arabians are scrunched up and extremely dished, which of course, is not true. My relative owns many arabians, and some of them barely have a dish and are STRAIGHT EGYPTIAN. I used to be someone who would found arabian horses hideous and scary since I thought they all looked like short faced seahorses. When I first saw my relative’s horses many years ago, I fell in love with the breed. Not because of their face, but because of their loyalty. Arabians are the most versatile and loyal breed out there. When one bonds with an arabian, that is a friend for life.

Why are people making this a fucking problem, lmao. I seriously don't get that. You adopted a RESCUE and you're giving him the absolute best life. You go girly. I've been watching you since you started and I will continue to do so. You do a lot of good for the horse world and you're appreciated. Much love to you and yours. <3

Don’t the haters get to you. Doesn’t matter if this is the same horse or not. The truth is he needed a home and you gave him a good one. People need to find something else to do rather than drag someone or horse down. Love you Raleigh! ā¤

I live in Colorado and I remember this case being in the news. If that is him, I'm so glad he landed at a safe, loving home.

I work at a shelter and we end up with inbred animals all the time from puppymill and cruelty cases.... The logic that you're going to find top quality bloodlines in rescues just goes beyond me. Like do they even understand the point behind a rescue? The point is, most shelters will euthanize an animal that is inherently suffering. Or, if the animal has severe medical problems and it's a no-kill then the animal will end up on sanctuary or be networked to another shelter more equipped to give the animal the medical care it needs until it dies naturally. I'm confused why people are acting like an inbred animal is inherently a euthanasia case which is what I'm assuming is the reason they're saying this stuff? I'm just confused.

Girl good for you for adopting this guy. My first horse was an Arab, probably poorly bred, we never questioned it, she was 12 when I got her, for free, barely started, turned out to be a super star. We won all the jumpers, raced, she was pony of the year in the chronicle of the horse magazine many years ago for winning so many races with me. I was heart broken when she died at 26. But she did 30 mile competitive trail rides and hunter shows and eventing as well. They are super cool horses. She was a chestnut mare and definitely tried to kill me many times but I wouldn't take any of it back. ā¤Glorys Gold

This desperation really tells me that these few Arabian enthusiasts aren't really fans of Arabians: they are fans of the exploitation and commodification of Arabians. If anything, the case they use of Focus Farms and then claiming Lalo came from what they support doesn't make their support look any better, quite the opposite...

I love Lalo Raleigh! May he have a peaceful life.ā¤
