The .22 hornet is such a nice cartridge and the rifles for it are svelte, light and easy to carry . I try to encourage people to try it before it disappears because it's everything a person wants in a small game round for out to 150 yards. It can use all the defensive bullets designed for the fn 5.7 , which is close ballistically but not equal. It has enough case length and volume to use the Speer .224 diameter 70 grain flat base SP given a fast enough barrel twist. It has almost no recoil in a rifle. A rimless version of the .22 hornet or .22 K hornet would be spectacular for box magazine rifles and carbines. In Europe it's designated the 5.6x35Rmm . It's nearly perfect for small-game and varmints in the woods. Accuracy/precision is also extremely good. Plus it has a cool history of being the first USA designed and produced small bore ,high velocity cartridge.

As a young man I passed on an opportunity to buy one of these pretty much just like this for I think $55. I’ve never seen another one anywhere else to my knowledge and kick myself when I see videos like this. The reason I passed is because back then ammo was impossible to find and we didn’t have the internet to order from like today.
