I tried avoiding any kind of medication while pregnant. Every medication has a side effect. We dont know what harm it can cause until its too late.Very thankful I had a problem free pregnancy and delivery❤

I believe retinol is a highly concentrated form of vitamin A, which would explain why you’d say no for each.

Wife was given Tylenol with codeine while trying to breastfeed our firstborn for some pain and while walking down the hall to participate in a babycare class she got spagetti legs and barely made it back to her bed. Come to find out it had codeine in it. She didn't even want Tylenol to begin with. The baby also was overly sleeply and developed juandice right after and had to come back a day after coming home for the bili- light treatment. Nobody could explain anything and if questioned they went into protective mode and were told, we as new parents were overreacting. Be very careful with the medical industry it could either help or hurt.

My obgyn has DayQuil for safe to take during pregnancy ! 😊 I’ve taken it my last two pregnancies . I have 4 🤸🏻♀️ But I do not take NyQuil because it has ingredients that harm the bab

Why do prenatals have vitamin A in them if it's not safe? I know it's more like you should avoid excessive amounts but it has always made me feel confused as to why it is included at all if it can cause birth defects.

As a medical student, the only ones I think can be safe during pregnancy that were a “no” are melatonin and DayQuil/Nyquil. The other ones are contraindicated because of increase risk for birth defects, especially retinol.

Melatonin is safe and my obgyn did recommend i take it. I was also prescribed unisom but didnt end up taking that. Multiple doctors were ok with melatonin. No fear momgering please

I disagree with the Melatonin - a natural sleep aid and something your own body produces to induce sleep.
When I was pregnant with my son - I was told to take Melatonin at night as I suffered from severe insomnia and being pregnant couldn't take anything else. My son was born happy and healthy and with zero problems.

my first obgyn in CA had me so scared to take anything, he said if i must take anything for pain, let it be half a dose of tylenol😭😭 then i moved to GA halfway thru my pregnancy and my dr here was wondering why i didnt take anything for pain when i had covid… ma am i was scared

They basically tell you to take almost nothing during pregnancy. But go ahead and get your covid shot and boosters and your pneumonia shot and your flu shot and whatever other shots you want!
