On July 4th, the U.S. was rocked by yet another senseless act of gun violence…

You’ve probably heard a ton of different opinions about how to deal with this crisis, like better mental healthcare or more rigorous background checks. We’ve certainly created a lot of videos discussing gun violence in America.

This topic has been an extremely polarizing one for DECADES, with some folks saying guns aren’t the issue, while the majority of Americans are saying we need SOME gun control. But agreeing upon the specifics of any proposed policy is where things get tricky.

We want to hear from YOU. What changes do you want to see when it comes to how we handle gun violence in the U.S.? What would make ALL communities feel safer? What can we do about this? What needs to be done?

The only way this is going to get solved is if we come together and advocate for our safety.

To solve the violence problem, we need to stop killing each other. Don't see "other people" as a problem that violence could be a solution to. Don't participate in polarizing debates, dividing people into "us" versus "them". Don't ostracize people who are "different" or "not like you" or "part of a different intersectional group". We are all people, we are all valuable, we all matter, and violence is not the way to solve problems, get your message noticed, or get attention.

We have met the problem, and it is us. We must become "on nation, indivisible". Solutions won't be changing other people, or their stuff. Solutions will only occur when we change ourselves, the one thing we can truly control.

I think that a lot of the more recent shootings have more of a correlation with the economy than any news station cares to admit. Hard times make bad people, that is all I'm saying.

Everything starts with electing responsible people who really care.

It should be more difficult to own and operate a gun than it is to own and operate a vehicle. Not only do you need to take lessons to learn about guns, you should have to purchase insurance and renew your license every couple of years. Prove you can handle it. As far as mental health goes it should be for all regardless of what you’re packing if anything at all.

Its not the guns, its the people using them. They shouldnt be allowed to get guns.

Stop teaching children "Us" and "Them" thinking. We are all one. We are an uncommonly uniform species with only the most superficial differences but with sameness that stretches back a quarter of a million years.

People love to harp on the idea of the 2nd Amendment like it's the "be all end all", so to appease these people and to keep guns "accessible" (whatever that means anymore) there should be a mandatory mental health check for individuals every year, if they want to keep them. Have them talk to someone because they clearly need help.
