It should be more difficult to own and operate a gun than it is to own and operate a vehicle. Not only do you need to take lessons to learn about guns, you should have to purchase insurance and renew your license every couple of years. Prove you can handle it. As far as mental health goes it should be for all regardless of what you’re packing if anything at all.

People love to harp on the idea of the 2nd Amendment like it's the "be all end all", so to appease these people and to keep guns "accessible" (whatever that means anymore) there should be a mandatory mental health check for individuals every year, if they want to keep them. Have them talk to someone because they clearly need help.

To solve the violence problem, we need to stop killing each other. Don't see "other people" as a problem that violence could be a solution to. Don't participate in polarizing debates, dividing people into "us" versus "them". Don't ostracize people who are "different" or "not like you" or "part of a different intersectional group". We are all people, we are all valuable, we all matter, and violence is not the way to solve problems, get your message noticed, or get attention.
We have met the problem, and it is us. We must become "on nation, indivisible". Solutions won't be changing other people, or their stuff. Solutions will only occur when we change ourselves, the one thing we can truly control.
