I'm old but I thought it was when you ignored someone on the phones. But I have heard of it in Palia. Some decorating magic.

I also first think of ghosting as ignoring someone, but in Palia “ghost placing” refers to a technique used to place buildings (like courtyards) separate from the a harvest house that involves switching lots so it is invisibly placed on one lot (hence the ghost name). I think people have newer methods that work better now though because with the ghost placing trick you can move the harvest house on the second lot otherwise your courtyard or whatever will move as well. Disclaimer: I haven’t played the game for like 6 months at least so it might be used to describe something else now; I never saw people refer to the technique as ghosting, only ghost placement/placing but I’m assuming people just started calling it ghosting because it’s shorter.
