Three pieces of M&A Advice for Founders

Jean Anne, can you give us your your three top tips? Your best pieces of advice for people that are thinking about selling their business?

Jean Anne Booth (Guest):

1) So I think the first one is, I was kind of calling the Stockholm Syndrome, which is that ability to know exactly what your exit needs to be and holding that in your mind.

I'm shooting for the stars while at the same time holding in your mind that reasonable understanding and expectation of what you can get and what you might accept.

2) I think the second would be just understanding that almost every deal right at the very last minute, there's a hiccup. And if you know what's coming, don't let it take you by surprise. Don't let it make you rush into something that you later regret.

3) And then third, we didn't actually talk about this, but this is a part of the entrepreneurial journey. How do you know when you're done or when you're not done? And the question the answer is, if you still have paths to go down, you're not done yet.
