The Japanese Dwarf Flying Squirrel (Pteromys momonga) is a small species of flying squirrel native to Japan, it is one of the smallest species of flying squirrel alive today, there are three recognized subspecies of japanese dwarf flying squirrel: the Ezo Dwarf Flying Squirrel (Pteromys momonga orii), the Honshu Dwarf Flying Squirrel (Pteromys momonga momonga), and the Kyushu Dwarf Flying Squirrel (Pteromys momonga kyushensis).
