I get way too many messages asking if someone should put a dog on medication to help calm them down. I hate those messages. 98% of the time it’s because you the owner are not giving the dog the mental stimulation or the physical activity they require. All the vet does it push the meds and I’m so tired of it. Please get off your phone, off the tv, up off the couch and start working with your dog! Create an unconditional loving, trusting bond and watch you and your dog grow into best friends. They require daily stimulation to be great dogs. (MENTAL STIMULATION NOT JUST PHYSICAL) STOP PUSHING CALMING MEDICINE!!!! Just my personal opinion. Breaks my heart to see so many people taking the easy way out and destroying the dog. Why did you get the dog to start with?!
PS -Chill people it was a piece of bread smashed and rolled to look like a pill 🤦🏻‍♀️

And some might miss the sarcasm? I thought she liked to say: " hey. Look out what you wish for- because you need to fullfill the Needs of your Dog for a lifetime" - so reflect what kind of Dog you really want. Hands up for this well mannered Malinois❤

If he’s too “hyper” you don’t have the right breed for you! Loved this

Not everyone is worthy of a Malinois. They are exceptional dogs, but they enjoy being busy all the time. Smartest dog I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

"Too energetic" is also a reason many dogs get turned in to shelters. 😪

People shouldn't get a Malinois if they're worried about them being hyper. It's in their breed.

As a vet, I only use these drugs for times they need to rest recovering from an illness or injury, or for helping stop self destructive behaviors such as extreme noise phobias. They are not a cure for wrong breed selection, no training, no exercise. I own competitive Australian Shepherds. Some high drive, some not. Different personalities require different management. Its the owner's responsibility to find what gives them a good life or a new home that can.

Yes! More advocacy for this! Get up off your lazy ass and help your dog out. In the long run it will help you out. If you can’t do it, hire someone who will.

I am an Akita mama. Preach sister. Know your dog/breed and give them what they need. I’m so tired of seeing Akitas /Shepherds/Malis/Huskys in shelters because people thought the puppy was cute etc. but they didn’t research and realize the power or energy of the breeds, nor did they socialize them them. So by the the time the dog hits 2 years they have an unruly 80lb dog who just wants to be with their owner and loved, not left alone most days bored out of their doggo minds.

My dog is on anxiety medication as it disrupts his normal life and he get distressed he will run in circles till he bleeds yes we have tried to stop this without medication and he gets an hour or two walk every day and we try to go to off leash parks as much as we can but he is getting older and we don’t want him to be in discomfort due to his anxiety our vet recommended this treatment it just makes him feel more at ease and his personality has not changed at all and we are very ready to take him off meds if we see any changes also his breed is prone to anxiety and if you don’t like the fact that I’m giving my dog the opportunity to not be anxious that’s to bad (I don’t like drugging dogs if it isn’t for the health of the dog)

I enjoy your videos a lot in particular because they show how both the pet and the pet parents benefit from responsible and loving training. Great job.

You're very lucky to have such a beautiful Malinois and he's not hyper, its in his bloodline. This type of dog likes to work, and be active like climbing walls and jumping. They're highly highly intelligent, and they are the best dogs anyone could ever have to train. They can be very protective of their owners as well. Wonderful dog to have!!
