Today's question: How do you practice self-care?
🙈
Being fully transparent, for years I fell into cultural biases and practiced self-care by:
💅Getting my nails done
💆♀️Having a monthly massage membership
🍹Eating at fancy restaurants
And I’m not “💩-ing” those things, but my self-care routine has evolved beyond what society, culture, AND the media sells me (and I still do those things because I just want to 👍)
Now, I practice self-care by:
😢Allowing myself to break down and cry
🙋🏽♀️Feeling all emotions without judging them
⁉️Asking for space to process and grieve
🤺Setting healthy boundaries even with loved ones (I know those are really hard sometimes)
😳Acceptance and letting go of those relationships that no longer serve me or don’t bring the best out of me (another difficult way to practice self-care)
And all of those things also translate as self-love 💕
