Uses combi on red brick, uses his promotion drill on thermalite block that you can cut with a wood saw ๐Ÿ˜‚

It doesnโ€™t matter what you use, you should use something like the Bosch multi material bits. They are a game changer for me. I fit aluminium windows and used to pilot with a combi, used a sds for the masonry and impact for fixing. Now I just use the combi for the pilot and masonry and finish with the impact. Game changer for speed and eliminating the fatigue and size of the heavier sds

I've got a Bosch 12v, yes a 12v and have used it alongside my DeWalt SDS. Best combo ever.

Might as well used butter to test the millwakulee, 18v makita sds and 18v makita combi all day long

I made this exact choice 5 years ago. A good robust drill (Makita) with lots of power, impact and hammer, which can handle all the big jobs. Supplemented with a very small 12 volt which I can get to pretty much everywhere (here the focus was precisely on being able to access all corners and nooks). It's the perfect combination and I have no regrets. So I can recommend your suggestion...!!

I have a Bosch 12v drill and 12v impact driver . That's all you need for any second fix aside from the SDS plus. Much lighter and better in tight spaces.

I run Dewalt and have done for years, I recently purchased their compact sds and itโ€™s as light and more powerful than a combi. I also have the flexvolt sds which is a beast for the more demanding heavier work, but Iโ€™d still run the combi beside both.

Combi drills shake loads and destory the gears inside of it.. As a Swedish carpenter I got one of the larger SDS from Millwakuee and it drills in secounds while my boss has a cheap Bosch and it takes him 3-4 times the time to do 1 hole in concrete

The bit on the combi drill was rotating anticlockwise instead of clockwise, that is why it was inefficient. That been said a good SDS is with its weight in gold

Everyone is obsessed with cordless. Get a wired sds or hammer drill and an extension lead, if you're a diyer.

An impact drill with impact rated masonry bit is clean and fast

I have a 18v and 12v bosch, I much prefer the 12v due to the weight. I only break out the 18v when I want to use a big hole saw or something. I also just picked up a 18v SDS drill to do some big masonry drilling, you are right about the combo drill being a naff hammer drill.

I've got the DeWalt 12v clutched brushless screwdriver, and with a combi it does everything grand. Impact driver and cordless-sds are there for as needed. Impact wrench for heavier torque/mechanical jobs, sheet having accidentally burned out an impact driver once
