Love Neil but he is wrong here completely.
Firstly, Jewish scripture has things like evil spirits and a place for those who die that isn't heaven.
Full disclosure though I'm only under this impression for the Hebrews who were around during and before Jesus' time. I'm not sure if Jewish beliefs have changed since then (but I don't see why they would).
Secondly, as some have already explained, Christians know that they cannot live up to the standards that they hold.
They also don't believe in God punishing you by making you sick vs not punishing someone else.
Christ is the only one who can live up to our standard and it is because of that we have hope in being saved.
There is also an event in the New Testament where people asked Jesus why this person was blind (or something like that), what sin did this person or his parents do for God to punish him this way.
Jesus explains why and He shows that it is not simply because the guy sinned.
To be fair to Neil though these are very common misconceptions and even a load of Christians aren't really aware of all the Christian understandings of these things. (You can see even in scripture, the followers of God misunderstood heaps of things.

Tyson is right. No one can live up to the standards set by the Bible. However that’s the point. Jesus took the punishment we deserved and through his act we were given salvation.
