I grew up upper middle class, but my mom grew up poor.
So she always taught us that even though we get whatever we wanted, to always be appreciative and never brag. Because "just as easily as we got, it can be taken away."

This house actually had a bathroom vanity cabinet, wow! My primary childhood home from 1957 through 1964 had bathroom sinks attached to the walls in the main bathroom and powder room. Both a washer and a dryer in a separate laundry room? Pure luxury! We had a washer in the kitchen and hung clothes on a line.
