1. What is Microbiology?
The world has recognized the importance of Microbiology during this Covid-19 pandemic where everyone wanted that someone develops vaccine to control this deadly virus. Though it took almost a year that the microbiologists of the world could develop a vaccine and we could better control the spread of infection and its effects. Then the world realized that more such professionals as microbiologists are required and one such course which helps to produce such professionals is MSc Microbiology.

2. What is expected from a Microbiology graduate?
MSc Microbiology is a two years course consisting of four semester. The students get to learn about isolation, cultivation and preservation of microorganisms, shake flask study, development of fermentation process, clinical aspects of microbes, their response to antimicrobial compounds and applications of microorganisms like in the field of Agriculture Microbiology to enhance crop production, in the field of Environmental Microbiology to remove environmental pollutants from contaminated soil and water environment, in the fields of medical microbiology to develop antimicrobials and drug to control pathogenic microbes, in the fields of immunology to study host-microbe interaction and to learn about host defense mechanism.

3. What are job opportunities after M.Sc. Microbiology?
Talking about job opportunities, there is ample opportunity for MSc Microbiology degree holders. They have job opportunities in both public as well as private sectors. The are recruited in pharmaceutical industries, food and food processing industries, chemical industries, hospitals, clinical laboratories, fertilizer industries and Research and Development organizations. They get recruited as Microbiologists, Research Analysts, Research Assistant, Laboratory Supervisors, Teaching Assistants and Lecturers.

They can also start their own laboratories and research facilities.
