I think its so uncomfortable because the seat doesnt fit dedicatedly to her body shape. If it fits to the driver dedicatedly like it should be normally, its so comfortable even drivers said they can fall a sleep during time gap between sessions

During school I was son the FSAE team, we made foam seats that were molded to the drivers. Everyone who got in it said the exact opposite of your gf. They are super comfortable, all race cars are actually because when they aren't the driver won't be as fast. People fell asleep in our car.

I dont know about formula cars, but i race stock cars, and the first car i ever drove on a track had an all aluminum seat. No padding. To add to that discomfort, it was a double header weekend.
