My pump machine broke a couple of weeks ago, so I've been using my moka pot when ive wanted something concentrated.
One thing to keep in mind as you use it more, the rubber gasket under the top piece does need periodic replacement. Don't go too long without replacing it otherwise it could start to break down and melt into the groove and become a pain to remove.
You'll get better coffee with espresso ground coffee. JTs coffee is quite good and in your neighborhood but also ships. Ive been buying my coffee from a friend of mine who runs a cafe in Florida but also ships (I'm happy to send you a link if you're interested). PTs coffee is also really good, but more of a "I'm hanging with friends and want something that would be a conversation coffee."

Haven't messed with my moka pot in a minute but this is exactly how I made it too. Brownie points, and I don't even know if this helped, but I would place a filter over the coffee for... reasons. LOL

You can get tasty coffee from a moka pot, but it's definetely NOT espresso.... If you check the definition of espresso, you will understand why...
