Do you know that before they turned sugarcane to granulated sugar, we were not a people of sugar? That's why a lot of our food has salt and if you check African Proverbs, you don't see them talk about sugar, they use salt, kolanut and other bitter things. Our ancestors didn't use to take too much sugar but when the British brought it to us, we started consuming it and diabetes and all other problems of sugar came to us. What we ate was sugarcane and it was also used to cleanse the mouth, test the teeth but it was not a regular. Our sugar was natural from the food...
