Good spring idea .You can also Try screwing a long wood screw into the wood and it comes straight out once it hits the back of the hole saw .

Or you stop drilling halway through and go around to the other side. Upside is you also get cleaner holes.

you also could just try to keep the hole saw straight on and not wallow around on it. when you start tiling the drill it flex's the pilot bit and allows the drum of the saw to walk as it distorts. this is why the thick wall hole saws for heavy metal use don't get stuck, the wall thickness is high enough to resist warping/flexing during the cut so the slug ends up actually being round and not oblong.

It also helps if you wobble the holesaw a bit so the plug gets a little smaller.

I also use a dry silicone lube on the inside of my whole saw. Seems to help with removal of plug

OR
Drill halfway through and reverse to the other side. This accomplishes 2 things..1) ease of removing the plug, and 2) eliminating the tear out.

Back in the olden days of the 80s they used to just have a small little pin hole on both sides to try to knock that thing out with a nail punch which didn't really always work all that often. Many times I would have to drill out the wood from inside the on a one and a half inch hole saw I would probably use a 3/8 drill bit about 20 times in order to loosen it up and have enough flex so I can break it and pull her out

JUST BEND 4 OR 6 TEETH "IN" slightly ON THE SAW.

Pro tip: when cutting the hole, clean the dust from the hole saw several times while cutting. I use an air hose while cutting. plug doesn't get bound in the hole saw that way.

Just spray siliconspray in the hole saw on a regular baises. Of course not dripping wet. 😉IMO in most cases the reason the wood doesn't slip out eaisly is because like in this video the hole saw has been used so much already that it is dull and sawing the hole too small to begin with. Just my opinion

I usually put a screw in the other side of the plug and pull it out with pliers

Nice cut away during editing to remove the plug halfway. That weak spring won’t do anything.

Or you can just put the drill in reverse and play with the trigger. Potentially add a small bump against a wooden surface whilst doing it. Works 70% of the time.

Partially screw in one or two short panhead screws on the 'far' side within the circle being cut. They become handles for the plug. Then pliers let you pull it our directly after the hole is complete. I liked the lube idea, too. Slick Stick does it.

Clean/sand the ID with sand paper and spray it with silicone spray.

Some wax or silicone on the inside of the hole saw and a large washer over the spring helps

You can also drive a long screw into the wood plug.
