I hate hate that when i go to a bookstore or search up a spoiler free rating of the book( where im expecting to know if it moves to fast/slow, if the writting is good ect, no spoilers) the first thing that pops up is " enemies to lovers/ the villain gets the girl/ live triangle " ect. Those are spoilers!!

With growling and hissing and stuff, do you mean like, “‘dialogue, dialogue, dialogue,’ he growled.”? Because they don’t mean that he literally growled like a dog. He said the words in a growl-kind-of-way
An example is in Harry Potter, it says Hermione is hissing instructions at Neville during a potions lesson. She isn’t literally hissing like a snake; she’s saying it quickly and quietly to him

I hate it when there is a supposed “happy ending couple” and they are “perfect for each other” but the relationship through out the book was toxic and you know they are going to break up. That happened with one book I read, the love interests didn’t have open communication or conversations, they would fight, the only thing keeping them together was intimacy, and so many other problems. Like, “she will never love me” and “she shouldn’t love me” except the character saying that still wants intimacy and they get together and the prior quotes are not addressed. Also, the love triangles, I hate them. It takes so freaking long for the Mc to decide and I hate it. I also hate the “not like other girls” trope. Or when the character says they’re ugly, but every girl/guy is obsessed with them. Or when the author describes the said, “ugly” character as conventionally very attractive. Also when the main character is a hypocrite, (there are a lot more instances of this than you think). And I didn’t like a lot of popular book because of this, I don’t think I’m super picky, but I can really hate some characters and Mc’s.

I love enemies to lovers but I hate it when one of the protagonists is super likable and the other person is an asshole. I don't want to read a happy ending and think that one person deserves better. Either both protagonists need to maintain some basic decency despite all the conflict, or at least I want both to be equally toxic so they deserve each other.
