I always heard it was the difference of "believe that" vs "believe in" . Many believe "that" Jesus lived, but not many believe "in" Jesus for salvation. I think I got that right 🤷♀

Perfect explanation. It makes that bible verse "I don't believe, help me believe" make sense.
Because sometimes it seems to out there to believe but you purposefully place your faith there in hopes it's actually real.
It makes it far less cult-like and allthemore hopeful.

True. In the mind we believe in Jesus, which is the first step to accepting Him as our Savior and Lord. Once Saved, then we are to believe in Jesus, ie abide in Him, obey Him and the Word of God, and do what the Apostles instruct us to do.
Jesus Himself said "Why do you call me Lord, and not do the things I say?"
Nobody calls Jesus Lord unless they believe in Him (in the mind) Those who BELIEVE Jesus in their heart. OBEY HIM.
