It's likely because they don't have a valid contactors license! And they can't pull a permit! There are many phonies out there, so protect yourself, and be certain that the people who work on your home or project, are licensed, bonded, and insured. But hold on, this is still not enough! Be sure to check their references of previous clients. Not one or two, but 5 or 10. We all take pictures of our projects, so ask to see some photos of completed work as well.
Even after doing all this checking, it's still very possible that you will be burned, with shoddy work, unfinished work, or no work at all, and they disappear with your money! Be careful, and never think that all will be well, until they prove themselves!
