My uncle was a night security guard at the Marmon plant in Garland Texas when I was a young teen. I went to work with him one night. Very cool to be around all of those trucks.

I drove a 86 p57 with a 92 Detroit 18 speed making 550 hp,it had marine injection. It had 100 speedo and would do it grossed at 80,000. 325 wheel base 355 rears.

Marmon built the very first winning car at the Indianapolis 500. The Marmon Wasp. 1912. At least I think that is true. Cummins Diesel engines also powered cars that sat on the pole at the 500 sometime in the 30s.

My papaw drove a marmon when he trucked back in the 70s he always talked about it he said it was the best built truck he ever drove and he drove all brands during his career. It sure was fun as a kid playing with my toy trucks on his living room floor listening to all his old stories about trucking

If it has a brownie it is not a single box unit as a 6X4 are a trans AND auxiliary,I owned a double over 13 … one must have big power to rev out the last gear … big power,and yes I know trucks and truck components my last,3408 V-8 cat 18, 390 …could drag 45,000 with ease in excess of 100 mph

We see some cool old trucks like auto car, brockway and other trucks still working local mostly farm trucks now and they just couldn't get rid of them, or replace them for what they are worth to them.

Marmon as a company still exists. They don't make trucks anymore, but they do make parts for other trucks. Mostly front wheel drive axle assembly for conversions.
