Most African cultures practiced matriarchy, a form of social organization in which descent and relationship are reckoned through the female line. And Kemet was no exception to that rule. That is even why Isis/Aset was depicted with a throne on her head. But most people ignore the reason why women were so important in the original African cultures. The answer is due to the "Matrilineal Right". in the agricultural systems, the pivot of society was the woman.
She was the one who transmitted all the rights, even the political one because she was the fixed element. Men were mobile, they could travel and migrate, whereas women raised the children and fed them. So, it was normal that they were the ones who held all the power.
Originally, they even were the ones who received the inheritance. And when we know that according to the prophecy of Neferty, which is one of the most powerful texts of Kemet, "only those who came from the wombs of Nubian women could inherit the throne", you can't be pharaoh if you don't marry an indigenous woman from the south. Rules started to shift a bit later, especially after the First Intermediate periods, which were actually periods of massive invasions coming from the Middle East.
The queens of Kemet were initially indigenous Africans and Nubians. It shows that according to the traditions of Kemet (ancient Egypt), the true rulers and owners of that land were the black ancestors in the south. This is probably why there was an ancient rivalry between both brothers. And I want to remind you that Sudan (Kush) is also known for his Kandake or ruling queens. It is one of the very rare major Kingdoms with dynasties of women who were the head of state. This validates the statements about why women were so important in those ancient African Kingdoms. They possessed the keys to the land. And when we look at it in a genetic perspective, we see that it makes sense. They maintained the indigenous markers, making sure that the rulers were true sons of the soil.
