Regina Khoo from San Francisco shares how one simple yes led to a moment she’ll never forget.

Thanks to a local CarePortal Community Champion—a business, family, or individual who donates funds to meet needs in their area—Regina received funding to help a single mom of two young kids who had just escaped an abusive situation and was trying to get back on her feet.

With the help of a Spanish-speaking friend from another local church, they met the mom in a Safeway parking lot—bringing diapers, wipes, gas money, and groceries, all purchased using their CarePortal Card with funds provided by the Community Champion.

When the mom finished a long call with her insurance company, she turned to see her car filled with supplies… and tears streaming down her face.

Regina and her team reminded her that she’s not alone—that there are people in her community who see her, support her, and believe in her bravery.
