TypeScript is a trendy open-source language maintained and developed by Microsoft. it's a superset of JavaScript that adds new capabilities to the language. The most notable addition is static type definitions, something that is not present in plain JavaScript. This basically means that TypeScript adds syntax on top of JavaScript, allowing developers to add types.

Now with typescript it is possible to declare what kind of arguments we are expecting and what is the return type in our function or what's the exact shape of the object that we are creating. For example, TypeScript will report an error when passing a string into a function that expects a number. JavaScript will not.

TypeScript is a typed superset of JavaScript that compiles to plain JavaScript. TypeScript is pure object oriented with classes, interfaces and statically typed like C# or Java. The popular JavaScript framework Angular 2.0 is written in TypeScript.

Mastering TypeScript can help programmers to write object-oriented programs and have them compiled to JavaScript, both on server side and client side.
