There are a ton of cards in Magic's history, so let's talk about 3 awesome protection spells that don't see a ton of play in commander, but maybe belong in your EDH decks. These range from weird to crazy powerful, but let's talk about how these cards can throw your opponents off to help you win games.

Says “spells” and then names a land. My inner judge aches

Holly shit; using Steely Resolve to target opponents creatures I would have never thought of!

Diamond City seems like it’d be pretty sick in creature-based proliferate decks. I’m considering it in Arna just because it’s a counter.

i was so pleased to get a steely resolve in a repackaged pack from a game store. 100 cards (2 rares, ~10 uncommons) for $4. The card is off centre but I got solid coloured card sleeves to cover it up.

Steely seems good, but the green tribal decks I have probably dont want it. My werewolves main form of removal is fighting things, so not being able to target my own werewolves would hurt.

I'm a big fan of Contractual Safeguard... Can put a shield counter on all your creatures if done during your main phase. With some Proliferate spells, it can really go a long way

Saw a Steely Resolve in an Omo deck. It’s an interesting tech because shroud has the downside of not letting you target your own things. But with Omo, you can selectively turn on Steely Resolve using the Everything Counters

Steely Resolve was a great band. They had some good hits like Dirty Work and Hatian Divorce... wait a minute

Green has so many interesting, underplayed cards

I had an opponent running a bear voltron deck, they ram Steely Resolve. In it. They forgot that equipment and auras normally target when attaching.

Something to note for parting gust: you don't need to give the fish to the target's owner.

I would say veilstone amulet, this card is strong in a creature deck that also wants to play at instant speed. It turns all your spell into protection spells for your creatures basically. Imagine casting a cheap cantrip spell while protecting your creatures, VALUE!!

In decks with a Commander that wants to attack, Redemption Arc is pretty good. Ii have it in my Myrel deck, and it pretty much allows me to attack with impunity

Parting Gust is a good way to blink your own cards as well, don't forget!

Steely resolve works alot better than people believe at shutting down game plans.

steely resolve would be funny in my kudo deck because nobody could target any creature. but unfortunately I have a lot of +1/+1 counter stuff I couldn't target anymore.
