Definitely hitting weighted pull-ups/ chin-ups as soon as possible is huge. A lot of people think there's a magic number of bodyweight pull-ups you need to hit before adding weight. I say add weight as soon as you can, even if it's just 10lbs for 2 reps. The sooner you add weight the more bodyweight reps you can do and the faster pulling power will go up.
