@07:52 - in this version of Eraser (from "Further Down the Spiral"), the vocal from the original where Trent screams "ERASE ME" is slowed down and stretched out to create the very long, tortured screaming heard here and throughout the track. I discovered this during the worst (and probably most intense) acid trip of my entire life after listening to the entire "Further Down the Spiral" album while peaking on LSD. It was the 90s and I was in high school at the time. Back then I had the album on CD, and on my stereo you could search forward through the track at a faster speed and still hear the audio, and when I did this my suspicion was confirmed as it became obvious that throughout the track you were, in a way subliminally, hearing Trent scream "ERASE ME" over and over without even really knowing it. Fucking terrifying.

I will never forget that night. Probably scarred me for life! Later on in a high school music class I took, I was assigned a project where we had to do a presentation on a song and go into various details (instrumentation, lyrical meaning, etc, etc.) Most of the other presentations were about 5-10 mins long. Mine was on one of the versions of "Mr. Self Destruct" from that album, and it lasted for well over an hour. I went into a ridiculous amount of detail dissecting the song, and I also described the experience I'd had while on acid, and I nailed that fucker (no pun intended). I got an A+. True story!

Over the years I have discovered a number of subliminal messages in other Nine Inch Nails songs as well. Most of the ones I've found were from The Downward Spiral and The Fragile eras. I would point out some others here but it's a lot to go into. It would be kinda cool to put a video on my YouTube channel where I could play all of them and point out all of the parts where the messages are so people could hear them. I know I've read about or heard Trent talk about this subject a bit in interviews, but it's never been talked about very much and I can't remember exactly where this was.

I myself am a musician/producer and have used subliminal messages in some of my work. I initially learned a great deal about the subject during my first paid audio gig in my teens, where I had the task of creating a series of CDs and cassettes for a clinical hypnotherapist to use for his clients. You'd be amazed how much audio can affect our minds and how exposure to specific things can trigger various responses in the listener (changes in pulse rate, shifts in brain-wave patterns, etc.)
