Iβm so thankful to Batman: The Animated Series for giving us this version of Mr. Freeze. He was simply a mad scientist in previous iterations and was largely forgotten by most comic book writers until this episode came out and kind of rewrote his story, which later changed his comic book origins as well, giving us the Mr. Freeze we know today. Not another Mad scientist bent on world domination, but a broken, grief filled man seeking Justice against those who took away everything he loved.

Victor didn't deserve the fate he got

He did eventually save her. But he couldnt be with her, and ended up becoming.....less human. A side effect of his condition lost him his body. By the end of btas he was just a head with a mech body. In batman beyond he got a second chance with a cloned normal body. But it had flaws, and he was basically melting. He had been betrayed again, so he got a new/old suit to get payback, only to face blight, save batman, and succumb to his fate.......π’

Even sadder to know Death didnβt let him go either. Heβd lived on for hundreds of years, only to finally die in Batman Beyond. Many, many years after his wife had died. At the end, he chose to finally die. There was nothing left of himself, nothing left to live for.

Also his body fell apart and he was reduced to just his head by the end of Batman the Animated series... a sad tragic fate for a man who only wanted to save his wife.

Honestly when it comes to general media, I'd say Killer Croc arguably has the most tragic and depressing story. Some like Clayface, Two Face, or Mr. Freeze definitely have tragic stories but Killer Croc is underrated. Many would view Croc as a man eating monster when in reality, he's still just a misunderstood guy who has sadly been mistreated and abused to where he decides to be what he was called by everyone, a "monster"
