I always feel like Another Round is sadder than people see it as. I've always interpreted the ending dance as being a depiction of the remainder of his life. Drinking and partying, occasionally stopping to sit on the bench and reflect on what he's lost, only to continue drinking and dancing because that's the only thing that brings him happiness, eventually diving into the water, where his friend died earlier in the film. It's a good metaphor for addiction, better than we get in a lot of films about the subject, because what it focuses on is the fact that engaging in drug use makes the user feel better, and breaks through the misery that it otherwise brings. Other movies tend to show addiction as all misery all the time, sadly sipping from a cheap bottle of whiskey and crying their eyes out, which creates a disconnect between the audience and the addicted character's mental state.
