I spent 20 days in the hospital last year. Offering help to bathe and / or brush my teeth didn't happen. My children helped me. Thank goodness!

First semester nursing student here. My first assignment that I’m doing today is on the introduction to comfort!

“It is my duty as a nurse to ensure that your patient has received adequate hygiene” I agree, but much means it’s ok for us delegate those duties to an unlicensed personnel, because as Nurses we are Liable for sooo much more!!!!

I always cleaned and straightened the patients rooms up. I wanted to see What I was doing and make sure the area was tidy .❤

I’m a nurse who was a hospital patient for 8 days. I was offered a towel to bathe once in eight days. My bed was only made twice when I had two surgical procedures. I asked to have my telemetry ( heart monitor ) removed to take a shower and was told no. I washed my body and hair in a sink for 8 days. The kicker was that the staff knew I was a nurse.

Yes, ma'am. I've been a CNA l and ll for 44 years, and I loved some of the nurses I got to meet and worked with. They believed the same thing, and they helped as well. I thanked them, and respect was strong with us❤❤❤

More should follow suit. 18 yr old admitted for rhabdo Tx he was in ICU a week regular floor 2. No one offered toiletries when i asked they did provide which I'd brought from home. The lack of staffing was just deflating lots of code blues as well so honestly i couldnt even be angry just shocked and saddened by the state of medical field teaching field very similar.

Really, this is where I found my place in nursing. We are more than "just nurse assistants." Basic nursing lays that foundation for everything else. She is so correct. Hygiene, a clean environment, clean sheets ,a bath, teeth brushed. Never be too high minded to empty a trash can either.
CNA 's are the ones that see that patient more than the charge nurse or the doctor. I've had the nurse come into my clients room (i was doing private care) and confess that they had not seen that person except to give meds. Basic nursing!
