Great review!! I just bought this and it's 'Bass' is pretty weak. I'm returning it and will give the Blast you recommended a try. Also, I have the Sonos portable bluetooth, and its pretty great. I got fooled into trying the Pulse5 for the cool lights.

in my experience it sounds better if you place it in the center of a room, it’s second advertising point is its 360 degree sound.
another thing, all of JBLs speakers have different versions, for some reason. It could be you just got a bad version. Mine‘s ND, it sounds great, gets loud, and its better than my Flip 5.

I’ve noticed with my pulse 5, the screen blinks red when I plug my usb charger in it.. is that normal? Its fully charged and brand new out the box
