Do you struggle with finding balance in your life?
If yes, then you need to learn what Bhagavad Gita says about work life balance.
In Chapter 6, Verse 17, Lord Krishna says:
युक्ताहारविहारस्य युक्तचेष्टस्य कर्मसु |
युक्तस्वप्नावबोधस्य योगो भवति दु:खहा || 17||
Those who are temperate in eating and recreation, balanced in work, and regulated in sleep, can mitigate all sorrows by practicing Yog.
What does this mean for us?
It means that we need to maintain balance in four aspects of our life:
1) Eating: We should eat neither too much nor too little, but just enough to nourish our body and mind. 🍽️
2) Recreation: We should enjoy ourselves neither too much nor too little, but just enough to relax and recharge our energy. 🎮
3) Work: We should work neither too much nor too little, but just enough to fulfill our duty and purpose. 💼
4) Sleep: We should sleep neither too much nor too little, but just enough to rest and rejuvenate our body and mind. 🛌
By doing this, we can overcome all sorrows and attain peace and happiness. 😊
This is the same advice that Gautam Buddha, the enlightened one, gave to his followers two-and-a-half millennium after Lord Krishna. 🙌
He taught the golden middle path between severe asceticism and sensual indulgence. 🌟
He once gave up eating and drinking, and sat in meditation. However, after a few days of practicing in this manner, the lack of nourishment made him weak and dizzy, and he found it impossible to steady his mind in meditation.
He also learned this lesson from some village women, who sang a song about tightening the strings of the tānpurā, a musical instrument, but not so much that they break. 🎶
So, please start living a balanced life and see the difference in your well-being. 🙏
