Actually just making a software is not software development but making it advance enough to work in too much load it should be modular, scalable, efficient, reliable without getting broke, while maintaining it on a daily basses to keep it working advancing its features Via CICD etc....

All these are good for side projects or POC but they all fail when are are given real task on real project i.e production. So yea software development surely has changed but a university will always require a mathematician even if they have calculators.
