In karnataka Ramanujar formed one moment called suthi movement, that means suthikarippu, if Dalits should wear poonul means they will be pure after that, and they will no longer be untouchables, they had permitted to enter the temples and worship God with others.
So many dalits joined in this movements and weared poonul and they live like a brahmin or others, Ramanujar told that days, if they wear poonul means then only Lord Perumal permit them into the Heaven, otherwise they won't permitted, because of their birth. (untouchables are not treated as normal human)

I just want to justify the fact the reasesrch in the movie was really great……pasupathi was shown as brahmin (thenkalai) brahmin because ramanujam said every one can become brahmin and create a seperate section in brahmin called as thenkalai brahmins (vainavargal) so the movie happened during the near furture from ramanujams period ….
Pasupathis character justified because at first he will say to his childrens to not beef but in the midst of war there is nothing to eat so he will turn to his roots
