Haenyo are korean women who follow traditional diving and seafood foraging practices. Back in the day they would be the primary breadwinners for their families and the generators of revenue for their seaside towns. It’s a dying practice so most remaining haenyo are older women, and they don’t even use oxygen tanks or heavy gear to dive. It’s a really beautiful part of Korean culture.
