If you're working out just for fun or to de-stress, then this post doesn't apply to you. Any movement is amazing for our health. So keep doing You.
However, if your goal is to change the shape of your BODY and have a STRONGER body..
Then understand that while entertaining exercises can add variety and keep things interesting but if you're always switching things up because "you're bored". Unfortunately you'll not be able to build muscle, get strong or get that "toned" look you're after.
Sticking to the basic exercises (for minimum of 4-6 weeks) is key for achieving long-term fitness goals. Embracing the fundamentals ensures that you build a solid foundation, stay safe, and make consistent progress.
1. Proven Effectiveness
Basic exercises have stood the test of time because they are proven to be effective in building strength, muscle, and endurance. Movements like squats, deadlifts, push-ups, and rows are foundational because they engage multiple muscle groups and joints, promoting overall body strength and stability.
2. Proper Form and Safety
With basic exercises, it's easier to focus on and maintain proper form. Complex and entertaining exercises can sometimes lead to improper technique, increasing the risk of injury. Mastering the basics ensures that you build a strong foundation and reduce the likelihood of getting hurt.
3. Progressive Overload
Basic exercises are ideal for applying the principle of progressive overload. Whether you’re increasing weights, reps, or sets, the simplicity of these movements makes it easier to track and implement progressive overload systematically, leading to consistent gains.
4. Functional Strength
Basic exercises mimic everyday movements and improve functional strength, which translates to better performance in daily activities and other physical pursuits. For instance, squats enhance your ability to lift objects, while push-ups improve upper body strength used in many daily tasks.
5. Efficiency
Basic exercises are often compound movements, meaning they work multiple muscle groups at once. This makes them time-efficient, allowing you to get a comprehensive workout in less time. They are especially beneficial for those with busy schedules who need to maximize their workout efficiency.
Let go of wanting your workouts to be entertaining. Once you start to see how you're body is getting stronger and changing. TRUST me you will not mind "BORING".
