The Swastika is not a really Nazi symbol and the Swastika is seen as a sacred territorial defense symbol of Odin and it has been associated with Thor's hammer and several English Anglo-Saxon rune stone tomb stones and also many viking artifacts. I found my helpless ancestor Widukind the wolf of Saxony after losing the Saxon wars requested the help of Siegfried of Denmark with a freedom fight that would begin the Viking age which shows not all Saxons were opposed to Vikings as some friendly fire loving fanatics wished.

Couldn't it be that their use for language and their use in magic as being intertwined? For example using magic was considered feminine, and rarely could a man use it without being considered Ergi. The masculine way is physical. Comparing this to modern times, women tend to handle conflict with words and social manipulation and when men behave this way its considered weak compared to just fighting. An explorations of the arcane in modern times really boils down to how words are spells and you can manipulate reality through language. It would make sense for the written form to be considered similarly. Unfortunately Tacitus didn't specify that it was runes carved on the casting bones but I don't think it's too far of a reach. Cheers brotha, i met you outside heilung in Colorado last year and I love the work you do.

It really gets under my skin when I see people doing their little cosplaying as 'vikings' and have symbols on themselves they have no idea the meaning of 😡 but at the same time makes me laugh 😂 ive seen some incredibly silly ones..
If you know you know 🤷♂️😆
I just breathe and remember that phrase "Ignorance is bliss"
It's also very funny when I see people writing 'I wish I was alive during the Viking age' little do they know that some families in poverty TODAY have better living than some of the earl's or even kings in THAT age lol viking wasn't a hobby it was done partially for survival lol we had to raid each other, farmland wasn't exactly thriving like t

Only issue is Michael contradicts himself here because in an earlier video he mentions how the runes were only a phonetic alphabet. And if illiteracy was pretty prevalent and very few people could read or write I find it unlikely a farmer/blacksmith/viking Egil Skallagrim would be able to read runes. Maybe he could who knows but I can't get past have even the Icelandic Sagas contradict events and such from other sources..Also the Sagas were written down in a time way after Iceland was made christian and how much of it is actual truth and how much is it romantic writing. Yeah there's definitely evidence that the events happened but it also has draugr and ghost seals So again how much can we really trust? I think spelling out warnings was more the magic then how the runes are treated like some Victorian age tarot set

Any study into Norse history and lore it's quite easy to see that they were magical. Look into the runic lore, which makes it apparent. I have to say that elder futhark has always been my favorite tool.
