This piece combines muted greens, dusty reds, and sun-bleached oranges with intentional layering techniques, creating a weathered look reminiscent of something exposed to the elements for decades.
Each layer hints at colors that were once vibrant, now softened and shaped by time, much like the vintage postcards that inspired it.
With marks and textures that hold the subtle imprint of age, the work invites the viewer to look closely, as if reading the faded words and images on an old postcard sent from a faraway place.
The concept behind this painting draws on my fascination with the passage of time and how it adds character and depth to what might initially seem ordinary. I wanted the composition to feel almost archaeological, where each layer conceals and reveals traces of another, bringing in the mystery and history of a place like Cabo Verde.
The painting is narrow, 50x140 cm and will be shown at the Warsaw ArtShow in December 7-8.
