What's causing yet another transit megaproject in North America to inflate well above what would be considered a normal cost for #rail anywhere else in the world?
We sat down with professional transit consultant Willem Klumpenhouwer to talk details about what's causing the #greenlinelrt in #calgary to get so expensive.
The Marron Institute at NYU has a research group called the Transit Costs Project that points the finger at a failure in many characteristics all at the same time. But the basics is that North American governments have difficulties funding and procuring transit projects, and thus have struggled to build or maintain local talent in this skilled labour.
